1. a member of an American Indian tribe of Shahaptian stock, that formerly lived in Idaho, Oregon, and Washington.
2. the language of this tribe.
3. Obsolete. a member of any Indian tribe that was formerly believed to pierce the nasal septum in order to wear ornaments.
